FUNDRAISER FOR THE MAGRATH FOUNDATION

12th SEPTEMBER SOCIAL.

Hi everyone
Well for all those that missed out on the recent social night held at the St Georges Basin Country Club, you really missed out on a fantastic night, we have had so many phone calls and emails from people who attended, expressing their thanks to the club for putting on a fantastic and exciting night.

We had around 200 people come along on the night from all over NSW, Albury, Canberra, Gulgong, Lithgow, Milton, Sydney, Wollongong, Crookwell, & Braidwood just to name a few, we had lots of new dancers coming along for their first social and have marked out the dances for their teacher to teach. The dance floor was full for most dances.

The response from everyone has been terrific and has made all the hard work put in by our club committee, members and friends well worth the effort.
The set programme of dances and requested dances were a great success.

Rosalie ran a workshop on Saturday, teaching 4 dances, we had around 54 people attend and everyone who went to that said they really enjoyed it.

Some of our girls had been working on an exhibition dance, for quite a few months, to entertain everyone on the night, the girls came out dressed in beautiful Harem outfits and put on a fabulous performance.
Two of the husbands ( names have been censored) were asked to be apart of the skit and come on stage and act as Arab Sultans overlooking their Harem Dancers all the while being fanned by two of our junior dancers Kayla & Emily.
The dance went off fantastically and ended with the Husbands walking off stage, that's where the boys had added their own little surprising twist to the dance walking off with their bottoms showing through a couple of hastily cut holes in the back of their outfits, this had the audience screaming with laughter and looks of shock on the faces of their Harem dancing wives who had no idea they had planned to do it…shame shame shame!!! haha!!

Well it was hard to focus after that shock but we soon got back to the dancing and the fun, the night passed by quickly and I’m sure if we were able to keep going people would have been there for sunrise.

The Shoalhaven Country Line Dance club would like to thank everyone for coming along and making the night so special.
The club raised $2,500 for The Magrath foundation and the Shoalhaven Hospital.
We look forward to doing it all again next year. The boys have already expressed their interest in being a part of it...I think not!!!..

Special thanks to Rhonda for all the hard work in making all the decorations for the tables & hall and also for making our outfits for the exhibition dance. Thanks to Carol(who was not well on the night but battled on with the speeches) Thanks to the rest of the Committee & Members that helped on the night.

Laurel
