No rest for the whicked!!
And here we were thinking we could all have a rest after the Party, but we must be a whicked lot because we haven't stopped.
Some of us girls have been doing demo's at Senior Citizen Homes. I have filled in For Jenny while she went off chasing Rhino in Africa, sounds like a great trip, Some of us have been going to some of the Rock and Roll groups socials, dancing, dancing and more dancing, it's been a busy time, here are a few shots from the last demo we did. I think we all need a rest and I'm off to see my daughter in Queensland for two weeks, can't wait! no dancing no organising, just relax and get some of that Queensland Sun's vitamin D into my system..
So until I get back, everyone stay well and have a good time.

Laurel.

do we look tired...no, still full of life!!...

they made me sit in this high chair...

looking way to comfortable at the Nursing home!!!

Oh! what a weekend.
Our 15th year Anniversary ball went off great. The feedback from everyone that attended has been fantastic with everyone saying they had a fabulous time. It was a sea of smiling faces on the dance floor. The program went off without a hitch and the requests were coming in thick and fast, we managed to do most of the requests which pleased everyone.

Friday Night.
It all started on Friday Night with a meet and greet dance, that was a good fun night between 60 to 80 dancers attended, it was all requests, I was happy to see most of the requests were older dances which everyone really enjoyed.

Saturday Afternoon- Workshop.
Tracie Lee conducted our workshop this year and everyone I spoke to loved it, We had a really good turn out and Tracie is such a good teacher, no fuss, nice and relaxed and just makes it easy and fun.

Saturday Night.
Between the Workshop which finished at 2pm and 6pm, when the doors to the auditorium opened for the social our ladies and men swung into gear and transformed the room into a colourful fun room to celebrate our 15 years. The theme was "colourful" and by the time the stage was dressed, the ribbons, signs, balloons and table decorations had been placed around the room it looked great. I think it surprised everyone that walked into the room going by the responses we had.

The night was full of laughter, music and dancing, just as it should be.

I would like to thank everyone that came along and made our 15th year celebrations such a memorable occasion.
I want to thank the club members that helped with dressing the room and the weekends preparations.
Special thanks to Margaret and Richard from Born to Boogie in Sydney who jumped in and helped out.
A very special person to all of the Shoalhaven Linedancers won the major raffle, a 7 piece dining setting and a 4 burner B;B;Q. Loraine is a tireless worker for the club and the night wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for her commitment. Thanks Loraine.
To Rob, John and Richard for agreeing to be apart of our little on stage skit, that was fun and the boy's had everyone laughing. Rob can't remember a thing he said, but was just glad he didn't swear.
Thanks to all the girls who were in the skit, they had been practicing for months and Margaret did most of her practice by herself in Sydney watching a little video she took of an earlier practice.
And even though our hard working president Rhonda wasn't there we had been given instructions and directions to follow to make the night a success. Thanks Rhonda.
Thanks to the ladies that made the outfits for the skit, they looked great.

The Sirenics
On behalf of everyone in the club and everyone who attended the night, we would all like to thank Simon and Serenity from the 'Sirenics' Simon did our sound and lighting for the stage and the skit. Simon and Ren as we in the family know them, sang for everyone there and learn't the songs especially for the night. They are very talented entertainers.
Ren performed our Skit number live which added a fantastic touch to the night.

D'BanJac
We also had two other fantastic entertainers perform for us on the night, Debbie and Jackie from the duo 'D'BanJac' They also learnt songs especially for the night, they put on a great show all night, dressing up in different costumes to suit the songs, some people were concerned the entertainers wouldn't be able to perform the songs and be to different to the original tracks, but there was nothing but praise after the night from all that attended. Thanks girls we are so grateful to you all for making the night so special.

The Visitors.
Thanks to everyone that came along and gave their support, we had dancers from all over the state come along, we all had a great time putting it all together, it's taken a few days to wind down from the buildup and the weekend.

thanks again to everyone involved, where already planing next years event!! hehe!

And don't forget to have a look at Laurel's Blog site, it has some great pics and stories from functions the girls have attended.

White Sands Carnival

Well what a day we all had at the White Sands Carnival.
Allot of our ladies turned up early at the Community Hall ready to jump into action and decorate the truck like the year before...we waited and waited and finally realised the truck wasn't coming so we all dashed of to the parade assembly point and hastily decorated a reluctant Ken's ute and Robs car in what was known as "Operation plan B' We girls have a reputation of overcoming slight hiccup's in our plans and implementing 'Plan B'.
It was a hectic hour of last minute activity,
but we managed to get it done ready for the street parade.

The parade was led out by one of the three Scottish Pipe bands, with the Trike Squad following, then the vintage cars and classic cars and then the Bootskooting Girls closely followed by the Shoalhaven Rock and Rollers.

The streets were full of cheering people and we finally made our way to the Huskisson Soccer Field where we put on a demonstration for all the people that had gathered in the park for the fair and the activities.

We put on a great performance, despite the small rocky dance floor.

The rock and Rollers were inspired by our efforts and hastily arranged to do some demo Dancing as well.

We finished of our demo with a combined dance with the Rock and Rollers to the music Stray Cat Strut. it was allot of fun and had everyone applauding our efforts.

Thanks to everyone that came along and made it a special day, thanks to the Rock and Rollers for jumping in and being apart of the fun as well.

Hi everyone it's Laurel's better half here, I'm doing the latest report as the poor old girl is just to busy to be able to do it just yet.

Well haven't the girls and Boys been busy since the start of the year, Functions here and there, classes all over the place, seems Laurel is never home these days.
I'm not going to try and tell you all about every individual event, I will leave that to Los.
But I will tell you about the fun day and night last Saturday.

Margy had her 70th Birthday party in an old farm shed on the banks of the Shoalhaven River near Terrara, What a great atmosphere, a group of her linedancing friends went along and joined her family and friends in a fantastic afternoon in perfect weather.

Laurel provided the music and naturally the girls couldn't resist the urge to dance the afternoon away.
It was an emotional afternoon with her family's speeches touching the heart of everyone there, finishing off the celebrations with a slide show showing a collection of fantastic family moments.

Unfortunately most of the Linedancers had to leave by 5pm as they had to head off to the St Georges Basin Country Club for the Cancer Charity Ball,

The girls were the opening act of a glam night of entertainment. and what a performance they put on.
They were asked by the club to do the Thriller Skit they had performed at the Linedancing Ball last September.
It was fantastic, they did it perfect, the packed auditorium went crazy at the end and people were absolutely blow away with the whole thing.

Allot of the club members are very talented people and over the course of the night they performed and entertained the crowd. The members, friends and the Club management that worked so hard to put on this show need to be congratulated, it was a fabulous night and all for only 10 dollars.

Here is a slide show from Margy's 70th birthday party
.

Well that's it from me, once Los has had a rest and finds a bit of time she can do a proper update

Updated the 10th February 2011
Welcome back
to a new year.
Hope that 2011 brings as much fun and entertainment as 2010.
We had a busy year in 2010, starting off with socials in Tamworth, Canberra, Milton, Sussex Inlet, Kanahooka, Homebush Ball & the Easter Parade.

We also had many occasions to just socialize with everyone. In June, a show(Motown) & dinner was held at the Huskisson RSL Club also with a bit of dancing (not linedancing). Some ladies went to the Kladis Winery while others went to the Coollangatta Winery(also with a bit of dancing). A trip to Sydney to see the Michael Jackson Tribute Show, the movies and dinner out in Nowra.

About 20 members & husbands went on a two hour cruise up the Shoalhaven River with dinner at the Boatshed Restaurant.

A few demo’s were done during the year, the first was at the Easter Parade in Huskisson, nursing home at Coastal Waters, Havenlee School for disabled children, the view club at Sanctuary Point dressed up in our Charleston dresses, looking very colourful, well done ladies.

What a great time we have had at all these venues, looking forward to seeing what will be happening this year.

We started classes on the 9th January, and I must say it is hard to get back into the swing of things, like learning new dances after you’ve had a xmas break for a few weeks, so for the first 2 weeks we have been going over dances that were taught late last year, we need this so we can remember what we have learnt. Then it’s time to focus again for the new dances coming through.

Some of the ladies and gentlemen from Shoalhaven Heads have also been coming along to the Club dancing on Sundays, so it's bringing everyone together in an activity we all get so much enjoyment from.
